AP EPDS Ration Cards are an official document issued by Andhra Pradesh State Governments in India to households that are eligible to purchase subsidized food grain from the Public Distribution System (under the National Food Security Act). They also serve as a common form of identification for many Indians.

Under the National Food Security Act, Andhra Pradesh Governments in India have to identify households that are eligible for purchasing subsidized food grain from the Public Distribution System and provide them with ration cards. There are two types of ration cards under NFSA:

PDS ration in Andhra Pradesh - AP EPDS Ration Card (epds1.ap.gov.in)

PDS rationing in districts of Andhra Pradesh can be an illustrative example of using modern technology to prevent retail corruption. Ration cards and corresponding bank accounts of the heads of families (HoF) have been linked with Aadhaar Numbers of family members.

When a beneficiary buys rations from a PDS shop, their eligibility is authenticated through an Aadhaar KYC handheld device. The PDS computer system reads out the quantity eligibility and balance of each item in the local language. After purchase, the balance quantities for that month are read out. The buyer pays the open market rate to the PDS shop. A computer prints a receipt showing all items purchased, balance items, money paid and subsidy amount. The subsidy amount is credited to the beneficiary's bank account under the DBT program. Because the PDS computer system is connected to a central server, beneficiaries can buy ration items from any PDS shop. The system is flexible and provides access and options to the public that was not seen before in PDS.

Once all PDS shops in the state are linked to Aadhaar-enabled central server, beneficiaries can buy their rations anywhere in the state without changing their ration card, which will benefit migrant workers in the state. Similarly, subsidized LPG is linked with the Aadhaar Number and delivery is made at market rate. The subsidy amount is credited as DBT to the eligible beneficiary. Leakage and diversions of subsidized commodities provide no benefit to middlemen and retail corruption comes to a halt.

While submitting application for Ration Card in Andhra pradesh, Form D1 needs to be submitted to the nearest rationing office.

Types of AP EPDS Ration Card

AP EPDS Priority Ration Card - priority ration cards are issued to households that meet the eligibility criteria set by their state government. Each priority household is entitled to 5 kilograms of food grain per member per month.

AP EPDS Antyodaya (AAY) Ration Card - Andhra Pradesh EPDS ration cards are issued to "poorest of poor" households. Each AAY household is entitled to 35 kilograms of food grain per month.

Before the NFSA was enacted, there were three types of ration cards - 

• AP EPDS Above Poverty Line (APL) Ration Card - APEPDS ration cards that were issued to households living above the poverty line (as estimated by the Planning Commission). These households received 15 kilogram of food grain (based on availability).
• AP EPDS Below Poverty Line (BPL) Ration Card - APEPDS ration cards that were issued to households living below the poverty line. These households received 25-35 kilograms of food grain.
• AP EPDS Antyodaya (AAY) Ration Card - APEPDS ration cards that were issued to "poorest of poor" households. These households received 35 kilograms of food grain.

Andhra Pradesh Ration Card AP EPDS Eligibility

People who earn less than Rs.10,000 monthly in rural areas and Rs.12,000 per month in urban areas are eligible to apply for this type of ration card.

How to Apply for AP EPDS Ration Card 2020?

Online Method to Apply for AP EPDS Ration Card

The online procedure to submit the ration card application is as follows-

1. Visit the official web portal of the AP Civil Supplies department i.e. https://epdsap.ap.gov.in/epdsAP/epds or directly the Meeseva portal.
2. Create a new account in Meeseva portal. A login ID and password will be generated.
3. Log in by using the login credentials.
4. Fill the application form by providing all the necessary details. Make sure all the details are correctly filled.
5. Upload all the documents (if required).
6. Review the application and cross check all the details filled before final submission.
7. Submit all the details.
8. An application number or reference no will be generated. Keep it safe as it is required to check the application status.

Offline Method to Apply for AP EPDS Ration Card

AP Ration card application can be made through the offline mode. For this, applicants have to visit respective ration shop to collect the physical application form. However, ration card application form can be downloaded online. The filled-in application form is then required to be submitted at the concerned department. Applicants have to attach all the necessary documents with the application form.

After submitting the application, officials will provide an application receipt to the applicants. This receipt will include an application no. or reference Id by which application status can be tracked.

AP EPDS New Ration Card List 2020 @ epds1.ap.gov.in

AP ration cards are issued for the purpose of providing food items at affordable rates to families belonging to poor and economically weaker sections. Apart from this, you can also stay in India and get the benefit of many other facilities through a ration card. According to the members of the family, the benefit of the government scheme can be obtained by using ration cards.

Now under the new process, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has started replacing the old ration card with the new rice card from 14 February 2020. The state government is preparing to replace about 1,29,00,000 ration cards with the new AP rice card. According to Food and Civil Supplies Andhra Pradesh, around 18 lakh beneficiaries have been found suspicious. Through these new ration cards, these suspicious beneficiaries will be denied benefits.

How to download Andhra Pradesh AP EPDS Ration Card online?

Given below are the steps you will have to follow in order to download your APEPDS ration card online:

1. Visit the Department of Consumer Affairs Food and Civil Supplies, Andhra Pradesh Public Distribution System website by clicking on the link
2. Scroll down and you will find the ‘Print Ration Card’ option
3. Under the option, there will be a box in which you will have to enter the ration card number. Enter the number and click on ‘Print’
4. You can then save the ration card in the pdf format and download it or simply take a printout of the ration card

How to change the name in Andhra Pradesh Ration Card (AP EPDS)?

You can directly obtain the ration card data correction application form either from the Meeseva website or the official website of the Andhra Pradesh state government and then print it out.

Enter the name of the person who you wish to be the holder of the ration card. You can also submit this form in case your name was spelt wrong. Once you have filled the form, visit the nearest ration shop or seva kendra along with all the necessary documents including your ration card and submit it. Your documents will be reviewed and the ration card with your name updated will be sent to your residential address.

How to change Address in Andhra Pradesh Ration Card?

You will have to download the ration card data correction application form either from the Meeseva website or the official website of the Andhra Pradesh state government and obtain a printout.

In the form, enter the new address which you wish to update in your ration card. Once you have filled the form, visit the nearest ration shop or seva kendra along with your application form and all the necessary documents including your ration card and proof of address clearly mentioning your new address and submit it. Once submitted, your form and documents will be reviewed and if they found to be in order, the ration card with your updated address will be sent to your communication address.
