10 Lines on Uttarakhand: Uttarakhand was formed as the 27th state of India on November 9, 2000, when it was carved out of northern Uttar Pradesh. Situated in the foothills of the Himalayas, it is largely a mountainous state, with international borders with China (Tibet) to the north and Nepal to the east. To the northwest is Himachal Pradesh, while to the south is Uttar Pradesh. It is rich in natural resources, especially water and forests with numerous glaciers, rivers, dense forests, and snow-capped mountain peaks. The four most sacred and revered Hindu temples of Char-Dham, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are nestled in mighty mountains. Actually, it is the land of God (Dev Bhoomi).
