एक बार एक अमीर व्यापारी रहता था। उनका एक आलसी पुत्र था। पिता चाहते थे कि वह श्रम का मूल्य जानें। तो, एक दिन पिता अपने बेटे को बुलाकर कहता है कि आज बाहर जाकर कमाओ वरना रात का खाना नहीं मिलेगा। आलसी लड़के को किसी भी प्रकार का काम करने की आदत नहीं थी। वह डर गया और अपनी मां के पास रोने लगा। बेटे को रोता देख मां का दिल पिघल गया। उसने उसे एक सोने का सिक्का दिया। शाम को, पिता ने पूछा कि उसने क्या कमाया, लड़के ने उसे सिक्का दिया। पिता ने उसे कुएं में फेंकने को कहा तो उसने फेंक दिया।

इस बार लड़के की मदद करने वाला कोई नहीं था। वह काम की तलाश में बाजार गया था। एक दुकानदार ने उसे अपना बैग अपने घर ले जाने के लिए दो रुपये की पेशकश की। लड़के ने अपना बैग ढोया, बहुत पसीना आ रहा था, उसके पैर कांप रहे थे और उसकी गर्दन और पीठ में दर्द हो रहा था। वह घर लौट आया और अपने पिता को पैसे दे दिया।

The father then realized that someone had given him a coin. So he now sent his daughter to his in-laws' house. Once again he sent his son out to earn.

 

This time there was no one to help the boy. He went to the market in search of work. A shopkeeper offered him two rupees to take his bag to his home. The boy carried his bag, was sweating profusely, his legs were trembling and his neck and back were aching. He returned home and gave the money to his father.

His father again asked him to throw the coin in the well. The boy cried and told him that it was his hard earned money and would not throw it in the well, the merchant became very happy. The son promised never to be lazy. The father gave the key of the shop to the son. The son had realized the cost of hard work.
