The given quote is about Karma, who was born before Kunti's marriage? Karma is the elder brother of Pandavas.
Once Kunti served the sage Durvasa with utmost devotion, when he was a guest in the then palace. Sage Dhurvasa was very pleased and taught Kunti a mantra to invoke the gods. Accordingly, when the mantra was invoked, the deity would bless him with the glory of his equal sons.
Kunti, a very young girl, out of curiosity invoked Lord Surya, the Sun God. He blessed her with a male child as a child, who eventually became one of the greatest of all heroes.
A swayamvara was arranged for Kunti to choose her husband. Kunti wondered how she could explain it to the child after the blessings of Lord Surya. So he put the child in a basket and threw it on the river Ganges.
The child was later found by a washerman named Adirath, who raised him as a karma. After many years, the enmity between the Padavas and the Kauravas leads to war. Sri Krishna, the well-wisher of the Pandavas, told Kunti that a battleship between the Pandavas and their cousin Kauravas was pouring too much blood.
Kunti was in great dilemma, because Karma, her first birth was with Kauravas and she would fight with her brothers Pandavas. He can kill his own brothers and be killed by them.
Kunti makes up her mind to tell Karma the truth about her birth and persuades her to leave Duryodhana and join her brothers, the Pandavas, against the Kauravas.
With karma on their side, the Pandavas could easily defeat the Kauravas. The next morning she went to the banks of the Ganges where Karma had a habit of praying every morning, after her prayer, she opened her eyes and saw Kunti. He greeted them respectfully.
Kunti understood the story of her birth and begged him to join her brothers, the Pandavas, to protect them against the Kauravas. Karma softly told Kunti, that he is actually Kunti's son but Adirath and Radha took care of him and brought him up.
He told her that things would have been different if only she had told the truth when Kripa challenged her to reveal her parents at the tournament. Despite being the son of a charioteer, Duryodhana had befriended him and gave him wealth.
Karma asked him if it would be honorable to leave Duyodhana. Karma smiled sadly and made the difficult choice without hesitation. He put honor, duty and friendship above all else.
He asked Kunti that if he abandons Duryodhana, will he not be a traitor and a traitor. Kunti had no answer to the question of karma. She bowed her head in shame and left him with a heavy heart.
