This lesson was the experience of the first Indian woman to climb Mount Everest. He was born in 1954 in Nakuri, a small village in the Garhwal Himalayas. He was judged as the best student and marked as 'Everest material'! ’ She climbed to an advanced camp at Gangotri, Rudugaira. His mentor Brigadier Sian Singh selected Bachendri for the scholarship. She founded the "Bhagirathi Seven Sisters Adventure Club" and it was a unique organization of girls and women to help other girls find adventure. He was selected for the Indian Everest expedition in 1984.

The team consisted of seven women and eleven men and was Bachendri's first real campaign. Although she reached the summit on 23 May 1984, she conquered the summit of Sagarmatha (Nepali name) at 1.07 pm. His dream had come true.

He was awarded the 'Arjuna Award' by the Government of India, Padma Shri, Yash Bharati and a gold medal. She wrote her autobiography- "Everest - My Journey to the Top". Now she was employee of Tata Steel Adventure Foundation as Deputy Divisional Manager. His life is an example of hard work and the desire to be successful can take a person to new heights.
