തന്നെ ദുഃഖിക്കേണ്ടതില്ലെന്നും ദുര്യോധനന്‍ ;
പറഞ്ഞു. അശ്വത്ഥാമാവിനെ അവസാനത്തെ
സേനാപതിയാക്കി ദുര്യോധനന്‍ അഭിഷേകവും
ചെയ്തു. പകരമായി താന്‍ എല്ലാപാഞ്ചാലരേയും ]
ഇന്ന്‌ തന്നെ കൊല്ലുമെന്ന്‌ ശപഥം ചെയ്തൂ...

മരണവേദനകൊണ്ട്‌ ദുര്യോധനന്‍
പുളയുകയായിരുന്നു. അപ്പോഴും അദ്ദേഹം
കുലീനത കൈവിട്ടില്ല, അച്ഛനമ്മമാരെക്കാള്‍
കൂടുതല്‍ അയാൾഭര്‍ത്താവ്‌ നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട ദുശൂളയെ
ഓര്‍ത്തു വ്യസനിച്ചു.
അശ്വത്ഥാമാവ്പാണ്ഡവരുടെ പാളയത്തില്‍
എത്തി ഉറങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്ന (സ്രീകളും കുട്ടികളും
ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ എല്ലാവരേയും നിഷ്ക്കരുണം
കൊലപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു.ഈ വാര്‍ത്തയറി ഞാണ്‌
ദുര്യോധനന്‍ സന്തോഷത്തോടെ മരിക്കുന്നത്‌.

- മഹാഭാരതയുദ്ധം ഈ പൈശാചികതയിലാണ്‌
അവസാനിച്ചത്‌ എന്ന്‌ ലേഖകൻ

കൂട്ടക്കൊലയെക്കുറിച്ച്‌ പാണ്ഡവര്‍ പിറ്റെ
ദിവസമാണ്‌ അറിഞ്ഞത്‌. മൃതശരീരങ്ങള്‍ കണ്ട്‌ ]
പാഞ്ചാലി മോഹാലസ്യല്ലെട്ടു ദയണിയുടെ
ശിരസ്ലിലുള്ള ചൂഡാമണി കൊണ്ടു വന്ന്‌ ;
പാണ്ഡവരുടെ ശിരസ്സിലണിയണമെന്ന്‌ ]
പാഞ്ചാലി വാശിപിടിച്ചു. ഭീമസേനന്‍ അശ്വത്ഥാ ;
മാവിനെ തേടി,പുറപ്പെട്ടു. ഭീമനെ
പ്രതിരോധിക്കാനായി അശ്വത്ഥാമാവ്‌ അയച്ച
ബ്രഹ്മശിരോ॥[സ്തം'ഭത്തരയുടെ ഗര്‍ഭത്തിലേക്ക്‌ ]
തിരിച്ചുവിട്ടു. ചോരയും ചലവും നാറി കൊടും
കാടുകളില്‍ തെണ്ടി അലയാന്‍ കൃഷ്ണന്‍ ;
അശ്വത്ഥാമാവിനെ ശപിച്ചു. അതോടെ ;
ചൂഡാമണി അശ്വത്ഥാമാവ്‌ പാണ്ഡവര്‍ക്ക്‌
പറിച്ചുകൊടുത്തിട്ട്‌ കാട്‌ കയറി.
പകയുടെ പ്രതീകമാണ്‌ 'ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന്‍' എന്ന
പേരിന്നര്‍ഹനായ അശ്വത്ഥാമാവ്‌ എന്ന്‌ ലേഖകൻ ;
