About Siliguri College
Siliguri College recently commemorated its 68th anniversary with all the experiences, innovations, opportunities and relationships it has imbibed over its six decades of existence. We take pride in being an institute promoting uncompromising academic excellence. Every year the college encounters endless lists of students who wish to seek admission to our college. However abiding by the strict guidelines laid down by the University of North Bengal to which this college is affiliated to makes it difficult to accommodate the numerous applicants across courses. The tireless efforts of our teachers and non teaching staff members has made it possible for Siliguri College to emerge as one of the premier educational institutions of Bengal. Their hard work inspires me further to do all that I can to preserve our academic standards. Keeping pace with the rapidly changing academic scenario in 21st century India, our college has implemented the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) from the 2018-2019 academic session. The college expects this to provide a platform for the students to come up with a more nuanced understanding of the various disciplines as well as to expose them to more career oriented and professional methods of learning. One of the suggestions made to the college by the visiting NAAC peer team in 2005 was to initiate Post Graduate courses in some of the subjects. It fills me with great joy to announce that the College took definite steps with regard to this in the academic session of 2018. The current session saw the fruit of our labours with the college being granted permission to initiate post graduate courses in Bengali and Geography. We have also applied for permission to initiate Post Graduate courses in some science subjects, and are eagerly waiting for their approval as well.
I am hopeful the new post graduate courses would open a new chapter in the academic history of our college. Over the years, the college has built up an impressive infrastructure. Currently, the college boasts of a well-stocked Central Library adorned with numerous rare books as well as departmental libraries for all science subjects. We aim to provide the social science subjects with their own departmental building in the near future. The college is also equipped with four computer labs and seven well-equipped Science laboratories. A digitally equipped seminar room with a seating capacity of around 100 students along with two hostels accommodating 120 undergraduate boys and girls also grace our campus. In order to provide our students with world-class infrastructural amenities, the college has plans of enhancing the college premises with a multi-functional auditorium, a state of the art basketball court and an indoor gymnasium for the students and faculty members alike. In order to facilitate the all-round development of our students, the college regularly organizes academic seminars, skill-enhancement workshops and various other co-curricular activities. It is a testimony of the sustained efforts of all the stakeholders in the college that it has participated and won several sporting, quizzing and debating competitions throughout the current academic session. Siliguri College is conscious of the many inequities that plague modern society and it is with the aim of transcending such divisions within college premises and fostering a sense of solidarity amongst the students that the college authorities took the novel step of introducing uniform for the student body. I sincerely hope the uniform will allow our students to develop a sense of 'we-feeling'. No college can ever be complete without referring to the faculty members. I am grateful to be leading the college with a group of dynamic teachers by my side. The faculty members of the college are highly qualified with many having teaching experience in some of the best colleges in the country. The teachers also serve as consultants and resource persons to important governmental and voluntary agencies, as well as for universities all over the country. I believe the students of our college are blessed to receive education from such gifted teachers and I truly feel with the resources at our disposal we are just one step away from perfection and enlightenment.

Affiliation and Accreditation
The college is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It was accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and awarded B++ grade, an accreditation that has since then expired. The college was affiliated to University of Calcutta till 1962. Currently it is affiliated to University of North Bengal.
