മണ്ണില്‍ ഉറച്ചു നിന്ന പാട്ടുകാരനാണ്‌ അദ്ദേഹം. ]

നിലനിന്ന വാക്കുകളും പ്രയോഗങ്ങളുമാണ്‌ ;

മലമ്മല്‍ (മലയില്‍) നരീനെ (നരിയൊ,എന്നിങ്ങനെ
താന്‍ ജനിച്ചു വളര്‍ന്ന ഏറനാട്ടിലെ വണ്ടൂര്‍ ഭാഷ
തന്നെ കവിതയാക്കി. പുരുഷന്റെ ക്രൂരതയ്ക്ക്‌
പാത്രമാകുന്ന സ്ത്രീത്വം ഹൈദറിന്റെ രച നയെ
പ്രചോദിസ്റിച്ചിരുന്നു, സ്ത്രിയുടെ
നൊമ്പരചിത്രീകരണ ത്തിനുദാഹരണമാണ്‌
'മറിയക്കുട്ടിയുടെ.കത്ത്‌' (1924)
ബെല്ലാരി ജയി ലിൽ കഴിയുന്ന ഭർത്താവ്‌
മറിയക്കുട്ടിയെ സംശയിക്കുന്നു. ഇക്കാര്യം
അയാൾ അവളുടെ ഉമ്മയ്ക്കെഴുതി. ഇതറിഞ്ഞ
മറിയക്കുട്ടി തന്റെ നിര പരാധിത്വം പറയുന്നത്‌
ആരുടെയും മനസ്സുലിയിക്കും. “തന്നെ ഭർത്താ
വല്ലാതെ ആരും തൊട്ടിട്ടില്ല. ബെല്ലാരിയിലേക്ക്‌
വരാന്‍ ആഗ്രഹമുണ്ട്‌. ആ മോഹം സാധിച്ചയുടന്‍
താന്‍ മരിച്ചുപോകട്ടെ' എന്നിങ്ങനയാണ്‌ അവര്‍
പറയുന്നത്‌.
കത്തായി വായിക്കാനും പാട്ടായി പാടാനും
കഴിയുന്നവയാണ്‌ കത്തുപാട്ടുകള്‍.
പ്രവാസജീവിതത്തിന്റെ ദുരിതങ്ങളെ
കത്തുപാട്ടുകൾ വെളിവാക്കി. വാമൊഴിയോടു
പുലര്‍ത്തുന്ന ഉറ്റബന്ധവും അന്ധവി
ശ്വാസങ്ങളോടുള്ള അസഹിഷ്ണുതയും
ഹൈദറിന്റെ പാട്ടുകളിലെ
പ്രത്യേകതയായിരുന്നു.
പുലിക്കോട്ടില്‍ ഹൈദര്‍ സ്വാതന്ത്ര
സമരസേനാനിയായിരുന്ന അബ്ദുറഹിമാന്റെ
അനുയായി ആയിരുന്നു. നിമിഷ്ഭവനശേഷി
കൊണ്ടും അനുഗ്രഹീതനായിരുന്നു ഹൈദര്‍.
ഇരുപതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലെ മലബാറിന്റെ
രാഷ്ട്രീയവും സാമ്പത്തികവും ഗാര്‍ഹികവുമായ
അനേകം മുദ്രകൾ മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടില്‍ അടയാള
പ്പെടുത്തിയ ചരിത്രകാരനാണ്‌ പുലിക്കോട്ടിൽ
ഹൈദര്‍. പ്രകൃതിയും സ്ത്രീയും നേരിട്ട
സങ്കടങ്ങളെപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള ആ ഗാഥകൾ അനീതിക്കെ
തിരായ പോരാട്ടത്തിന്‌ ഇന്നും ഈര്‍ജ്ജം പകരാൻ
കെല്‍പുള്ളവയാണ്‌ എന്നു കാണാം. ഇങ്ങനെ ;
പ്രമേയത്തിലും ഭാഷയിലും ദേശ സ്നേഹത്തിലും
സ്ത്രീകളെ സംബന്ധിച്ച നിലപാടിലും കേരളീയത
മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടില്‍ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന എഴുത്തുകാരനാണ്‌

എന്താണ്‌ മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ട്‌?
കേരളത്തിലെ മുന്റ്ങള ടേയും,
ലക്ഷദ്വീപുനിവാസികളായ മുസ്ലീ ങ്ങളുടേയും
ഇടയിലുള്ള ഒരു ഗാനസാഹിത്യപാരമ്പര്യമാണത്‌.
ഒരു ജന തയെ സംബന്ധിച്ചിടത്തോളം തങ്ങളുടെ
സംസ്കാരത്തിന്റെ ആവി ഷ്ക്കാരങ്ങൾ.
താന്താങ്ങളുടെ ഉള്ളിൽ ചിറകെട്ടി
സംരക്ഷിച്ചുപോരുന്ന അടിസ്ഥാന്‌'ചോദനകളുടെ
പുറത്തേക്കുള്ള പ്രവാഹം്ൃമുസ്ലീം വംശ ജരെ
മാപ്പിളമാര്‍ എന്ന്‌ വിവരീച്ചുപോന്നിരുന്നു.
അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ അവരുടെ പാട്ട്‌
'മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടായി മാറി. നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളുടെ
പാരമ്പര്യം അവ കാശപ്പെടാന്‍ അര്‍ഹതയുള്ള
ഒരു സാഹീത്യവിഭാഗം കൂടിയാണിത്‌. അ
ബിമലയാളം മുസ്ലീം വംശജരുടെയിടയില്‍
പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. അതി സമ്പന്നമായ
അറബിമലയാളസാഹിത്യത്തിന്റെ
പദ്യവിഭാഗമായാണ്‌ 'മാപ്പി ളപ്പാട്ട്‌ കരുതി
മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടിന്റെ വേരുകളിലേക്ക്‌ ഒരു
അന്വേഷണം നടത്തുമ്പോള്‍ അതു ചെന്നെത്തുക ;
നാടന്‍പാട്ടിന്റെ ഭൂമികയിലേക്കുതന്നെയാണ്‌.
മണ്ണിന്റെ മണമുള്ള ആ നാടന്‍ പാട്ടുകൾ
തന്നെയാണ്‌, കേരളത്തില്‍ മുളച്ചുപൊന്തിയ, ]
സര്‍വ്വകലാരൂപങ്ങളുടേയും, സാഹിത്യരൂപങ്ങളു
ടേയും പതിഞ്ഞതാളത്തിനു പിന്നിൽ എന്നത്‌ ]
ഏറ്റവും കതുകകരമാണ്‌.
പൈതൃകത്തിന്റെ ഒരു കണ്ണി തലമുറകളിലൂടെ,
സാഹിത്യത്തില്‍ പടരുന്നതാവാം”ഈ നാടന്‍
താളങ്ങളുടെ ഒപ്പം മുസ്ലീംമതവീശ്വാസ ത്തിന്റെ
ഉത്സവകേന്ദ്രമായ അറേബ്യയിലെ താളങ്ങളുടെ,
സമഞ്ജസ മായ ഒരു'കൂടിച്ചേര്‍ച്ചയും,
മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടില്‍ കണ്ടെത്താന്‍ കഴിയും. ]
ഈകൂടിച്ചേര്‍ച്ചവഴി കൂടുതൽ മനോഹാരിതയും,
ഹൃദ, ട്‌*ഇശൽ എന്ന റിയപ്പെടുന്ന
മാപ്പോടിീര്റെ പാടുന്ന ലി

സമൃദ്ധമായ ഒരു ഗാനശാഖയാണ്‌
മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടുകള്‍.
മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടുകളുടെ മറ്റൊരു സവിശേഷത അത്‌
സാഹിത്യം, സംഗീതം എന്നിവയുടെ
സംയോഗമാണെന്നുള്ളതാണ്‌. രണ്ടും കൂടി
കലര്‍ന്നു വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിലും മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടില്‍

ഇതു പഴയകാല രീതിതന്നെയാണ്‌. നമ്മുടെ ;
നാടോടി സംസ്കാരത്തിലെ ;
സാഹിത്യരൂപങ്ങളിലും, ഫോക്ലോറിലും, ഈ ഒരു
ഉപായം കണ്ടെത്താം. വരികൾ ഓര്‍മ്മയില്‍
തങ്ങിനില്‍ക്കാന്‍, പഴയ ;
നാടോടിസസ്പ്രദായത്തിന്ണെ ബാക്കിപത്രം. ;
ആലാപനത്തിന്‌ മധുരം'പകരുന്ന രീതിയിൽ, ]
മാലയില്‍ മുത്തുകളെന്നപോലെ, മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടില്‍
പ്രാസവും,താളവും നിറഞ്ഞുനില്‍ക്കുന്നു.
സംസ്‌കൃതവും മലയാളവുമായി ഇടകലര്‍ത്തി,
കോര്‍ത്തീണക്കി, ഒരു സാഹിത്യശാഖ,
കാലങ്ങള്‍ക്കുമുമ്പ്‌ ഇവിടെ വികസിച്ചുവന്നിരു ]
ന്നു.ആ സാഹിത്യശാഖ 'മണിപ്രവാളം' എന്നാണ്‌
അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നത്‌. ഒരു മണിപ്രവാളശാഖയ്ക്ക്‌
പിന്നീട്‌ ഭാഷയിൽ ഒരു അനന്തരാവകാശി ;
ഉണ്ടായത്‌ 'മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടിലൂടെയാണ്‌.
_സംസ്കൃതത്തിനു പകരം അറബി യായിരുന്നെന്നു
മാത്രം. ആലാപനസുഖത്തിനായി ഏതു
ഭാഷയില്‍നിന്ന്‌ കടം കൊള്ളുവാനും
മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടെത്തുകാര്ക്ക് വൈമനസ്യം ഉണ്ടായി -
റുന്നില്ല. അര്‍ത്ഥത്തേക്കാള്‍ ഉപരി
ശബ്ദങ്ങള്‍കൊണ്ട്‌ ഭാവാന്തരീക്ഷം സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു.
ഭാഷയുടെ കാര്യത്തിലും ഈ ഇടകലര്‍ത്തല്‍
ഉണ്ടായി.
മലയാളം അക്ഷരങ്ങള്‍ കുറിക്കാൻ
അറബിലിപികൾ പരിഷ്ക്കരിച്ച്‌ ഉപയോഗിച്ചു.
അങ്ങനെയാണ്‌ 'അറബിമലയാളത്തിന്റെ
ഉല്‍പത്തി. മാപ്പിളപ്പാടുകളുടെ പ്രചാരത്തിനു
ഒരു കാരണം അതിന്റെഈണ ത്തിന്റെ
വശ്യതയാണ്. വിനോദങ്ങള്‍ക്കു മാത്രമല്ല,
ജനസമൂഹത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ മണ്ഡലങ്ങളില്‍
മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടുകള്‍.ഒരു അവശ്യഘടകമായി മാറി.
തൊഴിലിടങ്ങളില്‍ ഇതൊരു ഉപാധിയായി മാറി.
കല്ല്യാണവിടുകളില്‍ മാത്രമല്ല,
പ്രകൃതിദുരന്തങ്ങളിലും, മറ്റും മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടിന്റെ
ഈണങ്ങള്‍ മുഴ ങ്ങാന്‍ തുടങ്ങി. ഒരേസമയം
വിനോദത്തിനും, വിശ്രമത്തിനും, ആഘോ
ഷാചാരങ്ങള്‍ക്കും, ആശ്വാസത്തിനും, മരുന്നായി
മാറി മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടുകള്‍.
മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടിന്റെ ചരിത്രം ചരിത്രത്തിന്റെ
നിശ്ചലാവസ്ധയിലേക്ക്‌ മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടുകള്‍ മരവി
ക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നതാണ്‌ ഈ ഗാനശാഖയുടെ ഏറ്റവും
വലിയ സവി ശേഷത. ജീവനോടെ ഈ
സാഹിത്യശാഖ ഉണര്‍വ്വോടെ ഇന്നും
നിലനില്‍ക്കുന്നു.
മറ്റു നാടോടിഗാനശാഖകളൊക്കെ തൂ റെ
ഏതോ, ഒരു ഘട്ടത്തില്‍ വളര്‍ച്ച മുര: യാ,

കണ്ടെത്തി. പ്രാദേശിക ഭാഷ അറബിലിപിയില്‍
എഴുതു ക. അങ്ങനെ അറബി - മലയാളലിപി
ഉടലെടുത്തു. ഇതിലൂടെ അറബിവാക്കുകളുടെ ]
മൂല്യം ചോരാതെ മറ്റുള്ളവരിലേക്ക്‌ എത്തി
ക്കാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞു. പിന്നീട്‌ ഒരുപാട്‌ ]
സാഹിത്യകൃതികൾ അറബി മലയാളം ലിപിയിൽ
പ്രചാരം നേടി.അറബിഭാഷയെ മാറ്റിനിര്‍ത്തി
മതജീവിതത്തിനു മുന്നോട്ടുപോകുവാൻ
കഴിയുമായിരുന്നില്ല. സ്വാഭാവികമായും ഒരു
ഭാഷാസങ്കരം കൂടി മലയാള മണ്ണിൽ പട്ര
കൊണ്ടു. 1
വിഭിന്ന ജീവിത മുഹൂര്‍ത്തങ്ങള്‍ ഈ
മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടുകളിലുടെ ഇതള്വീരിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്,

വളരെകാലം കഴിഞ്ഞാണ്‌ മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടു കളുടെ
തുടക്കം എന്നു സാമാന്യമായി പറയാം.
നാടന്‍ പാട്ടുകളെ പോലെതന്നെ
മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടുകളായാലും കര്‍ത്താവ്‌
ആരെന്നറിയാത്തവയുമുണ്ട്‌. എന്നാൽ ഭൂരിഭാഗം
കൃതി കളിലും രചയിതാവിന്റേയും,
കാലഘട്ടത്തിന്റേയും വ്യക്തമായി സുച്ചനകൾ
കണ്ടെത്താം. വരമൊഴിയിലുടെ
എന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ വാമൊഴിയായും പ്രചരിച്ച
മാപ്പിളപ്പാട്ടുകളുണ്ട്‌.
അവയും ഈ ഗാനശാഖയ്ക്ക്‌ മുതൽക്കൂട്ടായി
നിലനില്‍ക്കുന്നു. സങ്കടങ്ങളിലും, വേദനകളിലും,
അവയെ മറികടക്കാൻ 'സംഗീതത്തിനെയാണല്ലോ
ആദ്യം ആളു കൾ ആശ്ര്യിക്കുക. അങ്ങനെ
ആശ്രയിക്കപ്പെട്ട വ്യക്തികളുടെ പ്രതിസന്ധികളും,
ആത്മദുഃഖങ്ങളും പാട്ടുകളായി ഈര്‍ന്നുവിഴു ന്നു.
കാലം രേഖപ്പടുത്താതെവിട്ട അങ്ങനെയുള്ള
ഗാനശകലങ ങ്ങളും ഈ സാഹിത്യശാഖയുടെ
മധുരമൂറുന്ന സംഭാവനകൾത ന്നെയായി
അവശേഷിക്കുന്നു.
തലമുറകളിലൂടെ കൈമാറ്റം ചെയ്യപ്പെടുന്നു.
