प्रश्न 1.
आन्ध्रप्रदेश सरकार ने सम्मक्का – सारक्का जातरा को किस तरह गौरवान्वित किया?
उत्तर:
सम्मक्का – सारक्का जातरा एक प्रसिद्ध जनजातीय मेला है। जयशंकर भूपाल पल्लि जिले के ताडवाई मंडल के मेडारम् गाँव में इसे धूम-धाम से मनाते हैं। समस्त जनजातीय लोगों की देवी सम्मक्का-सारक्का अत्यंत महिमान्वित हैं। विविध प्रांतों से लोग यहाँ पर आकर वन देवता के रूप में सम्मक्का-सारक्का की पूजा करते हैं। यह जातरा पूरी तरह से जन – जातीय रीति – रिवाज़ों के अनुसार आयोजित की जाती है। ऐसी विख्यात जातरा को सन् 1996 में आंध्रप्रदेश राज्य सरकार ने राज्य त्यौहार के रूप में गौरवान्वित किया है। ऐसा करके सरकार ने जनजातीय लोगों के विश्वास को सार्थक किया।

इस जातरा को तेलगाणा राज्य का कुंभमेला क्यों कहा जाता है?
उत्तर:
हर दो साल में एक बार माघ पूर्णिमा के दिन सम्मक्का-सारक्का जातरा बडे वैभव के साथ आयोजित की जाती है। जातरा के पहले दिन कन्नेपल्ली से सारलम्मा की सवारी लायी जाती है। दूसरे दिन चिलुकल गुट्टा में भरिणि के रूप में सम्मक्का को प्रतिष्ठापित किया जाता है। देवी की प्रतिष्ठापना के समय भक्तजनों की भीड उमड पडती है। यह भीड किसी कुंभ मेले से कम नहीं होती। इसीलिए इस जातरा को तेलंगाणा राज्य का कुंभ मेला कहा जाता है।

सम्मक्का – सारक्का के जीवन से क्या संदेश मिलता है?
उत्तर:
सम्मक्का – सारक्का का जीवन संदेशात्मक है । अकारण काकतीय राजा, प्रतापरुद्र ने मेडारम पर आक्रमण किया । सांप्रदायिक ढंग से अस्त्र – शस्त्र धारण कर विविध प्रांतों से पगिडिद्दा राजु, सम्मक्का, सारक्का नागुलम्मा जंपन्ना, गोविंद राजु आदि ने वीरता से युद्ध किया । मगर अधिक संख्यक काकतीय सेना से लडते वीरगति प्राप्त की है। सम्मक्का, क्रोधित हो रणचंडी बनकर काकतीय सेना पर टूट पड़ी | जन जातीय युद्ध कला का प्रदर्शन करते घायल होकर चिलुकल गुट्टा की ओर जाती अदृश्य हो गयी। उसके जीवन से हमें यह संदेश मिलता है कि मातृभूमि की रक्षा करना हमारा प्रथम कर्तव्य है। चाहे जान भी चले जाए, अपने देश को स्वतंत्र रखना हमारा पवित्र धर्म है। तभी हमारा जन्म सार्थक होगा ।
सम्मक्का-सारक्का जातरा Summary in English
Indian culture has a significant place in the world. Here (in India) we find no religious, racial, high or low and colour differences. Sammakka – Sarakka Jathara is a good example for this. This is a tribal festival. This festival is celebrated in a grand manner at Medaram village in Tadwai mandal, Jayashankar Bhupalpalli.
Medaram is located at about 110 km from Warangal city. This historical festival is held at Medaram surrounded by mountains and dense forests. All the adivasi (tribal) people believe that the goddess Sammakka – Sarakka have wish granting powers. The people of various place come here and worship Sammakka – Sarakka regarding them as forest goddesses. Thus is a popular tribal festival. Out and out adivasi traditional way is followed here. Andhra Pradesh government honoured this festival by making it a state festival in 1996.
In 12th century, the ruler of Polavasa, a tribal area belonging to Jagityala of the then Karim Nagar district was Medaraju. His only daughter by name Sammakka was married to Pagididda Raju, ruler of Medaram. This couple was blessed with two daughter named Sarakka and Nagulamma and a son named Jampanna. Driven by the strong desire of kingdom’s expansion the Kakatiya king Prataparudra – I invaded Polavasa. The ruler of Polavasa Medaraju fled from Medaram and was in exile. At that time the tribal leader Pagididda Raju was their subordinate ruler (vassal). But he failed to pay taxes to the Kakatiya kings due to severe famine. With this, the Kakatiya kings got angry. Prataparudra – 1 under the command of his minister Yugandhar invaded Medaram on the day of Magha Purnima.
Pagididda Raju, Sammakka, Sarakka, Nagulamma, Jampanna and Govinda Raju (Sammakka’s son-in-law) were armed traditionally and fought bravely in gourilla warfare in different places. But with the valour of the large and well-trained Kakatiya army. Medaraju, Pagididda Raju, Sarakka, Nagulamma and Goivda Raju laid their victorious lives in the battle. Jampanna sacrificed himself by jumping into the Sampenga Kaluva. Since then, it became famous with the name ‘Jampanna Vagu’. Seeing all these incidents Sammakka became very furious and fought valiantly with the Kakatiya army. Prataparudra was awe-struck on seeing the Adivasi woman’s skill of war. At the end, wouned in battle Sammakka disappeared in forest while going towards Chilukala Gutta. The soldiers went in search of her and found turmeric and vermillion casket at Bombi. Regarding it as Sammakka from that day onwards, Sammakka – Sarakka jathara is being held magnificently once in two years on the day of Magha Purnima.
Saralamma is brought from Kannepalli on the first day of the fair celebrations. On the second day Sammakka is enshrined at Chilukala Gutta in the form of casket. Devotees throng to visit the place on that day. The crowds of people remind us of Kumbha Mela, Hence, this jathara is called the states’ Kumbha Mela. On the third day both the deities are enshrined on the throne (Gadde). On the fourth day they invite the deities. Again, the deities are taken to the place of battle. The Adivasi priests who had been performing priesthood for ages are seen here. The devotees offer jaggery to the goddesses and pray to them to fulfil their wishes. This jathara has a history of about 900 years. Year by year the popularity of this jathara and the number of devotees are increasing. The feeling of sociality and sacrifice for one’s own country are aroused by this festival.
सम्मक्का-सारक्का जातरा Summary in Telugu
భారతీయ సంస్కృతి ప్రపంచంలో విశేష స్థానాన్ని పొందియున్నది. ఇక్కడ (భారతదేశంలో) మతం, జాతి, ఎక్కువ – తక్కువ మరియు రంగు అనే భేదాలు లేవు. దీనికి ఉదాహరణే సమ్మక్క-సారక్క జాతర. ఇది ఒక జన జాతుల (ఆదివాసీ ప్రజలు, గిరిజనులు, ఆటవిక జాతి) ఉత్సవం (తిరునాల). జయశంకర్ భూపాలపల్లి జిల్లాలోని తాడవాయి మండలంలోని మేడారం గ్రామంలో ఈ పండుగను వైభవోపేత వైభవంగా జరుపుతారు.
మేడారం వరంగల్ కు దాదాపుగా 110 కి.మీ. దూరంలో ఉన్నది. తాడవాయి మండలంలోని దట్టమైన అడవులు మరియు పర్వతాలతో ఉన్న మేడారంలో ఈ చారిత్రాత్మకమైన జాతర ఏర్పాటు చేయబడును. సమస్త ఆదివాసీ ప్రజల దేవతలు సమ్మక్క-సారక్కలు అత్యంత మహిమాన్వితులని ప్రజల నమ్మకం. వివిధ ప్రాంతాలకు చెందిన ప్రజలు ఇక్కడికి వచ్చి సమ్మక్క-సారక్కలను వనదేవతలుగా భావించి పూజలు చేస్తారు. ఇది ఇక్కడ ప్రసిద్ది చెందిన ఆదివాసీల (జన జాతీయ) పండుగ, జాతర. ఈ జాతర పూర్తిగా ఆదివాసీల సాంప్రదాయ రీతిలో జరుపబడుతుంది. 1966 వ సం||లో ఉమ్మడి ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ ప్రభుత్వం ఈ జాతరను ఉమ్మడి ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్ర పండుగ రూపంలో గౌరవించినది. ఇంతేకాదు, ప్రభుత్వం ఇక్కడి జనజాతుల ప్రార్థన మేరకు 2013 సం||లో తాడ్వాయి మండలం పేరు “సమ్మక్క-సారలమ్మ తాడ్వాయి” మండలంగా మార్చివేసింది.
12వ శతాబ్దంలో ఆ కాలం నాటి కరీంనగర్ జిల్లాకి చెందిన జగిత్యాలకు చెందిన పోలవాస గిరిజన ప్రాంత పాలకుడు మేడరాజు ఏకైక కుమార్తె అయిన సమ్మక్క వివాహం మేడారం పాలకుడగు పగిడిద్ద రాజుతో జరిగింది. ఈ దంపతులకు సారలమ్మ (సమ్మక్క, నాగులమ్మ మరియు జంపన్న అను పేర్లు గల ముగ్గురు సంతానం కలిగిరి. రాజ్య విస్తార కాంక్షతో కాకతీయ రాజు ప్రథమ ప్రతాపరుద్రుడు పోలవాసపై ఆక్రమణ చేసెను. ఆ ఆక్రమణ వలన మేడరాజు మేడారం నుండి పారిపోయి అజ్ఞాతవాసంలో ఉండసాగెను. మేడారం పాలకుడు కోయజాతిరాజు అయిన పగిడిద్ద రాజు కాకతీయులకు సామంత రాజుగా చలామణి అగుచుండెను. కానీ కరవు కాటకముల వల్ల కాకతీయ రాజులకు కప్పం (పన్నులు) చెల్లించుటలో విఫలమయ్యెను. ఈ విషయమై కాకతీయ రాజులకు కోపం కల్గినది. అందువలన ప్రథమ ప్రతాపరుద్రుడు తన మహామంత్రి అయిన యుగంధర్ తో కలిసి వచ్చి మాఘపూర్ణిమ రోజున మేడారంపై ఆక్రమణ (దాడి) చేసెను.
సాంప్రదాయిక పద్ధతుల్లో అస్త్ర-శస్త్రములను ధరించి పగిడిద్దరాజు, సమ్మక్క సారక్క నాగులమ్మ, జంపన్న మరియు గోవిందరాజులు వేర్వేరు ప్రాంతాలలో గొరిల్లా యుద్ధం ప్రారంభించి వీరత్వంతో యుద్ధం చేసిరి. కానీ సుశిక్షణ పొందియున్న మరియు బహు సంఖ్యాకులైన కాకతీయ సైన్యం పరాక్రమంతో మేడరాజు, పగిడిద్దరాజు, సారలమ్మ, నాగులమ్మ, గోవిందరాజు యుద్ధంలో వీరమరణంను పొందిరి. జంపన్న సంపెంగ కాలువలో జల సమాధి అయ్యెను. అప్పటి నుండి సంపెంగ వాగు జంపన్నవాగు పేరుతో ప్రసిద్ధి చెందినది. ఈ సంఘటనలన్నిటితో కోపంతోనున్న, సమ్మక్క కాకతీయ సైన్యం పైన రణచండిలా విరుచుకుపడి వీరత్వంతో యుద్ధం చేస్తుంది. ఆదిమవాసి స్త్రీ యొక్క యుద్ధకళ చూసి ప్రతాపరుద్రుడు ఆశ్చర్యచకితుడయ్యెను. చివరకు యుద్ధంలో తగిలిన గాయాలతో సమ్మక్క యుద్ధ భూమినుండి చిలుకల గుట్టవైపు వెళుతూ అదృశ్యమవుతుంది. ఆమెను వెదకుతూ వెళ్ళిన సైన్యానికి ఆ ప్రాంతంలో బాంబీ వద్ద పసుపు, కుంకుమ భరిణ కనిపిస్తుంది. దానినే సమ్మక్కగా భావించి ఆ రోజు నుండి ప్రతి రెండు సంవత్సరములకు ఒకసారి మాఘపూర్ణిమ రోజున సమ్మక్క-సారక్కల జాతర చాలా వైభవంగా జరుపుకుంటూ రావడం జరుగుతున్నది.
జాతర ముందు రోజు కన్నెపల్లి నుండి సారలమ్మ తీసుకురాబడుతుంది. రెండవరోజు చిలుకలగుట్టలో భరిణ రూపంలో సమ్మక్కను ప్రతిష్ఠించడం జరుగుతుంది. దేవి ప్రతిష్ఠ జరుగు రోజున భక్తజనంతో ఆ ప్రాంతం నిండిపోతుంది. ఈ జనగుంపులు కుంభమేళాను తలపిస్తాయి. అందువల్ల ఈ జాతరను రాష్ట్ర కుంభమేళా పండుగగా (జాతర) నామకరణం చేయడం జరిగింది. మూడవ రోజున ఇద్దరు దేవతలను ఆసనంపై ప్రతిష్ఠిస్తారు. (గద్దెపై) నాల్గవరోజున దేవతలకు ఆహ్వానం పలుకుతారు. మరల ఇద్దరు దేవతలను యుద్ధం జరిగిన ప్రదేశాని (యుద్ధ స్థలి)కి తీసుకువెళతారు. తరతరాలుగా పౌరోహిత్యం చేస్తున్న ఆదివాసీ పురోహితులే ఇక్కడ పూజారులుగా చలామణీ అవుతారు. తమ కోర్కెలను నెరవేర్చవలసినదిగా భక్తులు అమ్మవార్లకు బంగారం (బెల్లాన్ని)కానుకగా సమర్పించుకుంటారు. ఈ జాతర దాదాపుగా 900 సం||ల పురాతనమైనది. ప్రతి సంవత్సరం భక్తుల సంఖ్య, ఈ జాతర పేరు ప్రతిష్ఠలు పెరుగుతూనే ఉన్నాయి. ఈ జాతర నుండి సామాజిక భావం దేశానికి తనకు తనను సమర్పించుకోవడం అనే భావాలు జాగృతమౌతాయి.
