The CBSE UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) is a national-level examination in India conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The CBSE UGC NET exam consists of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2.
Paper 1: Teaching and Research Aptitude
- This paper is common for all candidates and is aimed at assessing the candidates' teaching and research abilities.
- It consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering various topics related to teaching aptitude, research methodology, communication, reasoning, general awareness, and more.
- The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the candidate's ability to think critically, analyze information, and assess their general awareness about the world.
Paper 2: Subject-Specific Paper
- This paper focuses on the candidate's chosen subject (based on their post-graduation studies) and is meant to assess in-depth knowledge of the subject.
- Paper 2 consists of multiple-choice questions that are related to the chosen subject.

Candidates aspiring to become Assistant Professors only need to qualify in Paper 1 and Paper 2.
